Just got off an 'E-tutorial' chat session with a friend of mine studying in Spre. First I got nudged from H, 'Hi Krl.. u doc kan? Can u help me wt sumting if ure not busy.' (Don't like to be referred as a doc when I'm still a med student but anyway... haha) I wasn't busy, in fact I was just done practising wt Dmt for my CCS interview tomorrow, so I offered my time. H was like asking me if I knew anything about metabolism which I admitted to H that I've done a bit on the topic (one entire block actually). Getting the stereotypical impression when someone says that you should know (since ure studying med), I can't simply refuse but to help on the matter. Haha, I even apologised to her in advance if I wasn't gonna be much of a help. Honestly, I feel that by now all these things should already be at the tip of my fingertips but I couldn't simply remember most of the things that I've learnt. And when H brought up the questions like 'why are there two separate entries for NADH and FADH2 in the ETC?', they made me go blank. I was like going- 'sorry, I don't know, we didn't learn that and I think we don't need to know that much detail.' Perhaps, I do need to know but never bothered to look it up (:p). However, the full two hours didn't go to waste, I managed to clarify some areas for H (though that required me to refer haha) and H managed to introduce to me a whole load more info on the subject. I was more than happy to hear that I made a lot of difference in H's understanding.. (layak jdi tutor kah? haha) I don't know.. it's just the idea of helping each other, somehow, seems to work for me as well.

Hope my interview tomorrow goes well... Just go with the flow... n oh yea, talking bout waking up early for a 7.30am lecture, all I can let out is -sigh~-.

Vainer than ever

New week, new case, new tutor.. It's only the 1st day so I can't say much about it.. but good thing is... I didn't find myself as apprehensive as the time when the last two tutors first came in. I guess I got used to it. And probably the fact that she's Asian - familiarity-wise (if that even suppose to make sense). For today's Pee Bee El, I volunteered to be the chair/moderator. Haha, I was lucky coz I got to pick an LO first (the rules/system we set - moderators choose 1st). By right, I was supposed to be the last one to choose today.. Like the colleagues said, 'smart move there'. It's just that I thought since no-one would volunteer (others had their turns already), it must be my turn. Anyway, I'm just happy to have chosen a simple LO yet again... Next week, I'll definitely be last.. Darn..

Oh yeah, news from home. There was like this 20 minute strong typhoon yesterday or the day before that I think.. From what I was told, there have been roofs blown off, trees tumbang sana sini etc. Whoa, must have been a really2 strong wind...

I'm bored, and for the sake of filling up my post I'll just put up another mysterious pic of mine and a vid clip. Cya all.

Done, but.....

Yeah, finally the assignment's done. That's over and done with. Oh yeah, just minutes ago, I went to check my e-mail to see what I sent. Guess what? I've sent in the wrong file!! It was my unedited version, with references all over the place.. red and green fonts everywhere! Thank god I checked it. I guess now that saving documents as new files everytime can be safe BUT can get you all confused as well. Apparently my older file had a similar file name.. I was rushing that time because PBL was starting.. Sigh eh.. So I just sent the lady the RIGHT file and asked her to discard the old one. She must be like wondering what the hell is this guy sending late this hour. Gosh, I panicked for a moment when I had a brief check. Just feel shitty now... I hope she replies my emaik and accept. Good thing, we sent in the right hard copy...

Oh yeah, I just wanna thank Afrh for the lunch treat last Saturday. I really liked the idea that we had lunch somewhere else for a change. Maybe we should go Japanese or Indian the next time? hehe.. Anyway thanks again. I haven't tried your keropok/kerepek ketam yet. Will eat them soon and give feedback :).

Returned to Bris last Sunday. The flight was really empty. I can imagine that everyone in that plane could even take up all the middle three-seats for a place to lie down and sleep. Really comfortable...

It's really windy and freezing here. I can't stand it. Too cold. I'm like already wearing triple layers of clothing. It's weird to see that some people are still able to wear shorts and just T-shirts. Gila.. I guess I've only just acclimatised to the Bn weather during my short break there that my body thermostat got too slow to revert itself when I got back here.

Anyway, I've been sort of a tour-guide these past few days. A friend studying in NZ & his friend came and are staying over for a week. Showed them around like city and South bnk. There isn't much here really IMO but I was pleasantly surprised that they find it here I would refer to it as 'wow.' But there were other reasons hehe..

This morning the two fellas went out on their own. Independent exploration. They went rock-climbing and kayaking at Riverside. Wanted to join them but I had promised an interview at Garden City for my assignment. The interview went well btw and took about just over one and a half hour. It's good that this interviewing process is now over and done with but the sad part is the report write-up. Argh, hate reports.

Ooops, didn't realise it's morning already. We're heading to GC later this morning. So need to get up early. Going to Movie World.. Again.... for the 3rd time. Oh well, just gonna enjoy myself and this time gonna try out the new Batman ride.

In less than 2 weeks...

.. is the exam! Having mixed feelings about it. Neither too excited nor too nervous. Somehow I feel a lot calmer than for my previous exams. Probably because it's only one exam to look forward to (but remember Krl it covers all of the 18 weeks of cases!) but we'll just have to see how I feel in the next few days.

Oh yea, Heroes season finale rocks. I'm sure the other fans agree with me. Just thought they should've extended it to two hours. Can't wait for the next season. LOST season finale is also on this week. 2 hrs!! Read reviews on it online. Ppl say it was the best episode ever! I'm sure it is!

Pirates 3 is out. Actually wanna watch it this week. Should ask the others about it.

They're back

Had another clinical communication skills session this morning at the PAH. Was ok, we watched other ppl's interviewing video. Some were really hilarious we just laughed throughout the session. Finished early so went over to the nearby Nandos just across the road to buy a pack of peri2 chips & the yummy custard tarts (I should blame someone for introducing me to these hehe). Walked back to Uni and straight to lecture. Somehow, the one lecture today was good although there were bits that I didn't really understand- it was on the respiratory system. The timetable said it would take 2hrs but we were done in 1hr only. Then went for badminton and finally back home. Right now, we have the guys over coz Rmt (or Wd or Fhn or whoever) organised a movie marathon here. Stomp d yard's just finished and now in the middle of Death Note. I only watched a bit. Just too tired to watch. Oh yea, we have a guest as well (Dmt's friend) who just came from GC from his conference. Just staying over for a while before he flies off this Sun.

All over again

So... How did my team 'Satria VIII' do during futsal last Sat? We played 3 matches. Against the Msians we lost 0-3, then drew wt Dmt's team 1-1 and our final match we lost a close 3-4 against GrifU Asik team. Overall, we didn't qualify into the knock-outs. The point is we had fun. At least for some of us, the underdogs :D.

School's back again. Last night I wasn't looking forward to it but hey it didn't turn out that bad at all. I thought our PBL dynamics would be disrupted with the new tutor coming in but the tutor was cool- she's fine with how we wanted it to be. Funny that one of my PBL mates immediately told something like this to the tutor "We normally don't present our LOs and we definitely don't present other ppl's LOs." Good move! haha... Rather, we would go through the triggers again and then discuss among ourselves & direct specific questions.. Different groups have their own styles.. I'm not sure which one works the best. I guess you just have to live with what you've got & make the best out of it.
