Phew!!

Alhamdulillah my cumulative GPA is more than enough to get me through MBBS. I realise I've been too laid back this semester but fortunately still able to keep my grades stable. Anyway, I'd like to congratulate others as well. From what I've learnt, many have improved for this term's exams.. Congrats guys..
.
Thank goodness the workers outside are done withe their knocking and scraping for today. They were making this noise outside the window of my room early this morning. You might have noticed why I was early on MSN. Can't really blame them anyway. I quote from an episode from Futurama- "You gotta do what you gotta do (with a sad face haha)"
.
These past few days I've been trying to search for budget hotels or rather good-hotels-but-cheap on the net. I was also and still trying to plan out for my Sydney vacation for my family coz they asked me to. Like getting info of the interesting places to go to, plan out when to go, a good halal place to eat etc. But I'm bad at planning! Or maybe it's just that I don't want to plan. I'd rather have someone else do it for me. I guess I'm just afraid to take the blame if something goes wrong coz you know fingers are always pointed first to the people with the source of idea. Oh well what to do.. It's also my vacation.. "You gotta do what you gotta do"..

Did you know..? I didn't..

I'm bored. Let's talk kitchen and health... haha..
.
Now, between plastic, wood and marble chopping boards, which one would you prefer? (We'll rule out the marble hehe). Well I just wanna spread this knowledge I've acquired from the TV (where else? :p). You know when you use your chopping boards to cut up your onions, lettuces etc you'll likely to leave some bacteria on the boards. The chopping board is a perfect site for bacteria to multiply (especially at the cuts) because of the moisture from the food and so on. This is one of the ways in which food-poisoning may actually occur. Previously, people actually thought that plastic was the best in terms of hygiene. But recent microbiological tests revealed that wood is in fact the best, the reason being that wood has this porous property that allows bacteria to penetrate through, never go back up and slowly die off. As a conclusion- wooden chopping board is the safest/cleanest.
.
After watching the programme now I know why the wooden ones are expensive. Probably one of the reasons is that it is the safest to use. Most of us I assume use the plastic ones because they are a lot cheaper (am I not right?). Anyway, to those plastic chopping board users, don't be put off by this information I've given. Even though you are concern about your health, you don't have to run off to the nearest grocery store to get hold of the wooden ones. Any chopping boards will do as long as you clean and sanitise them properly. The programme showed some tips on how to effectively clean them but I kinda forgot what they were.
.
Ok, so much of my health talk for today haha.. I hope it's helpful in case you guys didn't know it. Maybe I should post up some more of these unusual entries in the time to come.. LoL

Cleaning campaign; Lost; Confirmed graduands

Some of us were at Mai's place to help her clean her place before she moves out by Monday. Bersih banar udah nyamu lapas atu~ :p Especially the balcony or verandah or whatever you call it - sparkles- hehe :p. Ofcourse, not forgetting to acknowledge the kitchen cleaners and ceiling light worker, credits to you guys. Jobs well done indeed if not for the perfectionist genes inherited by some :D. You just see the result. Haha. It was also an event of 'pembahagian harta', where all the unwanted stuff which were still useable were donated to each one of us just now. I think I've received a lot LoL... Thnx Mai:) Oh yea, the pizza as well..
.
Anyway, after grocery shopping at Coles I walked back home. Much of my time was wasted on going the wrong way. I was supposed to go through Austral street via Sandford street but instead I went into this one street which led me back to Toowong again. I was in fact going in a circle! After all those slopes, darn.... I tell you it was scorching hot and I was profusely sweating. Not giving up, I turned back and eventually made it to the side of the main road and walked further. Then only I noticed the familiarity of the area and safely got back.
.
This morning I was awakened by the good news that we all made it for the graduation. So I'd like to say congratulations to all of us here.. There's just still one more nerve-wracking moment- exam results. That will determine our entry into MBBS. Let's just hope for the best. As for now, just appreciate all our hard work & efforts and embrace our already known achievements :D.

Is it just me?

Some of you might come across 'MySpace' on the net, the other kind of 'Friendster' but widely used by the omputihs (haha just assuming, it's probably just more popular) and also used to feature some celebrities etc. I'm not sure if you guys have noticed this. I've seen a lot of older adults & senior people (maybe 30ish to even 70ish) most of whom are females having a page profile of their own. It's possible that it's just that younger people are using false profiles but why in the world would they do that, right? Here's what I think- I think they're real. They are even using real pictures of themselves. So my question is: Is it a common phenomenon in the Western world that these age groups are also actively engaged in this MySpace thingy? Haha.. I could not imagine my parents having a friendster profile and even if they do, I don't think they would care much of updating or improving their page. It's funny you see, these people are also good in 'decorating' their pages and frequently update them! Maybe better than some of us! Including myself.. hahaha... It's kinda interesting to notice these 'so-what?' details but I think it would make a great sociology topic essay to write on. LoL :D

36 to 32

Status right now: Can't move (hehe just exaggerating). I've succumbed to several mild muscle aches over the areas of my shoulders and back. It's normal I guess but anyway I've gotten these from all the carrying yesterday. It's actually like this, my cuz and her housmates were moving out and last time Dmt and I promised her to lend a hand on moving their stuff out. Haha I thought it would be just boxes and a small number of big stuff. But it was more than that. Picture this: 1 fridge, 1 freezer, 2 washing machines, 3 standing fans, one 3-seater couch, two 1-seater couches, several furnitures-shelves, tables, mattresses and the rest were boxes of miscellaneous stuff as well as their luggages. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that they rented a UTE truck to move their stuff and Dmt was assigned the driver. Well, we took about 5 trips I think to strip their former place of stay into empty space.
.
Here's the funny part. We were given the key to their friends' place so that we could transfer the stuff. We were asked to put their stuff in the garage only. The label on the key chain indicated unit 36 so we opened and put their stuff in it. You see the garage was unlocked so there was not much of a problem. Then when we were on our final trip, by chance, another friend told us that no. 36 wasn't the right place but I insisted that it was clearly labelled on the keychain. He said it was 32 and to prove it- he has the access into it. As it turned out, he was right. We've actually transferred the whole lot into somebody else's garage! Talk about the invasion of their property haha! Any car could park there anytime! Darn, should have taken a picture of it. Honestly, I was a bit frustrated coz I was like already sleepy, cranky, tired and all. Luckily, I think the tenant didn't have a car and was probably away. Maybe they're also students like us. First thing- shift ALL these stuff to garage 32.
.
Fortunately, we had more people to help out this time. But then came another problem. There was a BMW parked in that garage! (About the car being there, that's another story- possibly a mutual agreement between different tenants). And I think the owner was away. At first glance, we thought we couldn't possibly fit everything in there. So the plan was to shift all the smaller stuff first. Then we managed to fit in the fridge and washing machines- transferring them with care at the highest level. We also organised the place to allow for more space and eventually everything (yes, everything) was inside. Oh yea, if you see the garage it is fully packed. At least garage 36 was empty before but in garage 32, initially there were also stacks of boxes plus as I mentioned, the car.
.
So there goes my yesterday. My cuz and her housemates treated us for dinner and I would like to thank them for that once again. I got back at around 12 but Dmt had something more to do after that so he got back later. He has his particular story for that night. I'm sure you'll here it from him soon haha.

'Happy Grad'

I hate the fact that it's only this time around that my student card expired and it has literally put a stop to my transport concession rates- darn it. So today, I just stayed home. Not tempted to go to the city or wherever but who knows sooner or later haha. Besides, this morning (err, in fact afternoon) I woke up late - as usual haha :p.
.
I've got like about maybe 3 weeks plus before I go back to Brunei and so far I haven't got any plans for this holiday other than when my family arrives here. I was like thinking- what should I do? We'll just see how it goes..
.
What happened today (Monday)? Well, this afternoon my whole batch of Biomed had photoshots at the Uni campus. It was like more of for Yil and Dmt (them in their grad gowns) since they are gonna go back early next week. They took several shots already in the morning but they wanted a group photo as well. It felt a bit like 'graduation day' except for the fact there weren't lots of people around and it was already getting dark. But I think the 'graduation atmosphere' and feeling was probably felt more by both Yil n Dmt. Makes me more excited to wear that gown this coming 13th December. Can't wait to throw the hat- that should be a great feeling haha..
.
'Happy Graduation' Yil!
.
'Happy Graduation' Dmt!

The night of my life

Didn't get much rest since Friday, the day when I finished my last exam. Last Saturday, me with several others- Mai, Azm, Mea n Rnld went to GC (M n R going separate ways later on). Basically spent about half of our trip travelling, in the train and also the bus.. When we reached Surfer's Paradise there was just too many people there considering it's the end of the year and you have these group of teenagers all around you- they are the 'schoolies'. So the environment was actually lively especially at the beach- you guys may have seen this in one of Azm's entries. Well, 1st thing we did when we got there was we ate at this restaurant I can't remember the name. Then we went to Centro and I decided to finish off my Timezone credit (from the previous visit). Somehow we ended up playing more haha. Well, the imprtnt thing is we destressed ourselves and had fun. After that, we strolled around exploring more of the SP vicinity, then to the beach and finally headed home, sleeping in the bus along the way to Nerang rail.
.
The evening I ate at Dapur Bali wt Far n Nrl. Just felt like eating something malay-ish. The rest- Mai, Azm, Yil n Dmt were at 1001. Well, that night back at home I was pretty exhausted but then Tqi n his friend came over. We played this mastermind game and I think it went over an hour. Simply distressing and I was close to going mental haha. But I eventually solved it :D. Continued my night watching Skeleton Key. Must say the story was slow and frustrating.. I'll probably give a C.
.
I woke up late today (I mean Sunday- just now bah). Didn't do much. Eat and TV. Just now the final 2 OZ idol was on. Two of my favs are in the finals- Jess & Damien.. (Lavina and Reigan eliminated earlier). Yes, both deserved the final. I feel like the nation got it right this time. Anyway, about their potential single 'The night of my life', I immediately like it the minute I heard it. It was probably way better than 'Maybe tonight' from last year. Both versions from Jess & Damien are equally good IMO- one did a ballad type & the other a more rock beat type. Jess is fairly versatile and has an amazing vocal range whereas Damien with his trademark falsetto pipes is very good in his acoustic and ballads genre. I'm not sure what you guys think. However tonight, Jess did an excellent rendition of hers. It's too bad that only one singer can claim that single unlike in American Idol where both idols get to release the same song. So who will win? Seriously, I don't know but I think it will be a really close one. A voting poll from one site revealed a close 51-49% at the moment with Jess in favour of winning. But still there's like a week and anything can happen. One blogger also did a poll (100% to Jess currently) but statistically insignificant hahaha :p. To me, I think it might go to Jess coz her performances this week was exceptionally good especially the single!. But then again, I don't mind who wins.. Looking forward to the verdict night.

Freedom; At the movies

Phew! It's all over! Free..! Relief! Had my final exam earlier this morning for two hours. The paper wasn't bad. Only few questions that got me scratching my head. The others were actually easy but sometimes you can't recall what you've actually studied so just applied a lil bit of common sense. But overall I thought it was only satisfactory considering the period of revision I had. No regrets. Did my 'best' already.
.
Btw, just thought of posting an upcoming movie trailer for everyone's preview- The Casino Royale 007. Some of us watched 'The Prestige' just now at South Bank. 1st time at the smaller cinemas. Smaller screen but not overcrowded. Anyway, must say that I enjoyed the movie although I was left with little confusion.
.
Other showing & upcoming movies: Borat (haha!), Escape clause, The holiday, Texas Chainsaw massacre (Let's watch this!), Open season, Saw 3, Jackass 2 and many more...

Saja..

I'm in no mood to study anymore! -Sigh- Eh, have you guys ever come across the name of 'Borat'? I'm sure you have.. Yang dulu personalitynya Ali G (me thinks) and now he's taking over the character of a Kazakhstani journalist [source: wiki]. I saw him in the news last night. He was in Sydney to attend a premiere of his movie. Some ppl say its controversial (again me thinks) saying that his actions/sayings make people look foolish etc. Well, all I wanna say is that he's annoying... haha... that's it.
.
P/S: I still wanna watch his movie.. :p

Irreplaceable

I like this other song by Beyonce besides 'DejaVu'. No comment on 'Ring the alarm'- just read somewhere that this song was about/meant for JayZ. I'm not entirely sure about their relationship to date but yesterday I heard on the radio that there's something shaky going on between the two especially if you listen to the lyrics of JayZ's new song- hopefully I didn't misintepreted it. Anyway, in this video clip below, Beyonce's attitude reminds me of Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) from Desperate Housewives haha.. 'To the left~, to the left..~, everything you own in the box to the left~' Haha... Enjoy..

Reminiscence

I was browsing through the web (like always) and I came up with the idea of googling my own name. I'm sure some others do that as well.. And guess what? Here's what I found.. Click here
.
It's been SIX years and I didn't know anything about this posted on the web. Haha.. Look at me in blue.. I was skinny LoL. But the picture itself is not clear, you can hardly make out who is who. Hmm.. Those days.. when most of us still don't have the digital cameras. All we could do was to scan the developed photos from the shops. Anyway, those pics was during my involvement in a national science project competition where we came in 2nd! >_<. Miss those times in Temburong~. There were a couple of funny things that happened-

  • I kept on slipping over the slippery rocks on the streams- average of 5 times each day. Haha.. Ended up with several cuts and bruises.
  • There's one day when we had our lunch at the project site, it suddenly rained and our mee got wet. Guess what? We had 'Mee Basah.' Hehe...
  • A friend of mine wore a monster mask that one night w/o our knowledge and he scared the hell out of us when we were hanging out with the other school team members outside the chalet. Imagine the look on each other's faces- especially that girl haha.

There's probably a lot more of these moments. We probably have bonded more after that. I really miss this bunch of friends but now we all have our separate ways. We hardly contact each other but I hope we don't forget each other.

P/S: Today's my brother's b'day. Just a shout-out. Happy Birthday Bro Khad! May Allah bless you and reward you with good health!

Hard working? Hardly working?

Argh...!! I'm really disappointed at myself for today's paper.. How could I not answer those SAQs & MCQs properly.. I felt really stupid doing it. I couldn't even remember but only the slightest bit.. And who knows whether what I remembered was even right! At first glance of the SAQs, ok.. this looks simple especially J.Rthnagel's... Aaa..there's a repeat question... good... Then B.Dgnan's 16 marks qs, -utter confusion, blank :s [flips thru pages quickly]. E.Whtlw's- ok.. this should be ok.. epigenetics-probably a handful I can recall... but 10 marks means 10 points.. where am I gonna get more points... Panic. And also P. Nkes, aah good I've read this several times- let's leave that for now.
.
Did the MCQs over the first hour.. Must say really really tough questions.. I think I've shaded about 5-6 of those '?'s. Imagine 5 times 0.4... Could be helpful. This paper is a disappointment, I never rechecked my MCQs coz I couldn't be bothered. In previous occasions, I've actually changed mostly from right to the wrong answers. This time, just have to believe with my initial instincts.
.
What contributes to the said disappointment? Did I do my revision? Yes I did. Was I not working hard enough? I'm not sure.. Or was it my method of study that's not effective..? Or maybe not focused enough..? Maybe my memory retention is low...from that aji-no-moto (haha I like the rhyming). I really like SAQs but this time around I'm hating it.. O well... As the saying goes 'What's done cannot be undone.' That phrase is so overused.. My situation would probably fit more on ' You cannot change what is done' (lame :p, but I see a difference in meaning). Next: BIOL3002..

Panic in disguise

It's in less than 9 or so.. Anxiety strikes in... Yet I'm showing signs of calmness.. Very calm indeed.. As if there's nothing major tomorrow.. At times on the www (mostly that is), other times in the kitchen in search of food and flicking through the channels on TV. Studylah! It's your final chance..
The good thing is I've done the whole revision and now I'm on the recap bit. Not sure if I understood the stuff correctly but that's a completely different story. I just hope that what I studied in these past 4 days, they'll all be stuck in my head until after the - what I anticipate as an agonising (too strong a word I guess) two hour exam. Hope it'll be over SOON. By then, two are down.. And only one to go!
Heroes episode 3 is in my to do list for post-devb exam..

Heroes

Sigh~ Two days of dwelling & inconsistent revision and I'm still finding it hard to grasp all these DEVB stuff.. [curses lightly]. I hate to say this but I'm having this feeling that I'll not do so well for this coming paper. Meaning- not being able to answer the questions. It's so hard understanding the lecture notes, let alone remembering it.. It's worrying.. But I have to keep reminding myself.. There's still time... I know I won't let it happen (it=not being able to answer). Just have to keep trying..
.
Anyway, I just found out there's this new TV series from NBC called 'Heroes' and currently its topping the TV.com rankings, just above my favourite show 'Lost'. As I'm writing this blog, I'm also watching Heroes on UTube (Shouldn't I be revising? :p) & I must say I'm liking it. The show to date has been aired up til only episode 6 I think. So I guess I'm not that far behind before I catch up. I'm hoping to download the series soon because watching on Utube is so inconvenient. Anyway, to give you a brief idea about the show, I haven't read anything on it yet but based on watching the pilot (1st) episode, it's about these people from different walks of life who are about to find out that they possess some natural super powers... Yeah you guessed it, something more or less like X-men. I don't wana say more, I've yet to watch it.
.
Here's a quick preview..

Current thoughts..

Phew.. one down, two to go... The SOCY exam just now was so-so. It was probably a little bit harder than the Midsem one. I just hope I didn't make too many mistakes on this paper. It was good that Dmt and I went through the reader and lecture notes together from 1- 4+pm.. Some sort of reinforcement after revising individually. Back about the exam, I tell you most of the questions relied a lot on remembering facts (argh!) especially statistical data while the rest were basically concepts and understanding questions.. Overall I think it was OK.. (Only to make myself feel better).
Up next... Devb... There's so much to understand and to remember as well! B.Dgnan? A.Prkins? E.Whtlw? And I think there are more... Sigh... Just have to go through this.. After all it's the final exam...

My Friday today

Haha let's make this post an announcement page as well.. May come in handy... Guys, in case u browsed into this page even before u check ur netbank, just to tell u guys.. Allowance's out! Njoy... Bejimat2 jua sblum balik ni hehe..
In the last post I did mention about not sleeping last nyt.. Well I did.. Therefore I conclude, sleeping is a must. With that said, I didn't get to finish my revision. I just found out that my exam 2moro is in the afternoon so that should give me some extra time to go over the rest of my study materials.
I went to the city this afternoon. Just for a break after an hour's revision at uni. (Didn't do much though). Anyway, here's an interesting fact you guys may find weird. I actually prefer and find it effective to read/study in a moving vehicle (here I mean the bus/train). So I did just that. When I got to the city I wandered around needlessly and when I got to the QSM area, there was a large crowd of ppl. I wondered wat was it about. To my surprise, Guy Sebastian was there! To promote his album... Contacted Far to tell about it & convinced her to come if she was to get an autograph but she decided not to. Anyway, stayed there for a while, watched him perform a few numbers then headed off to Easyway & Nandos to get some takeaway. When I got back to the area, the queue line was still as long as when I left earlier. Then I went back home. That's it.
Tonight is our M'sian neighbour's open house. No need to cook. 'Haha I like!' (I don't know where I got that expression from).

Swot vac Raya

Just needed something to do for a while so I decided to post an entry. We're into the 2nd week of raya & so far, it's been a nice one although there might be a few of you who don't agree with me..Just my opinion :). At least this year many ppl hosted open houses where we can just go to & fill our stomachs :D. Speaking of raya, it's also the exam revision week (swot-vac as they call it here..). My 1st is this Saturday- SOCY. That's like in less than two days & thank god I've covered most of the topics of my reader. But I guess I won't be sleeping tonight since I've still got the lecture notes part to read & the fact that I slept through the afternoon.
A few days ago I turned 21. Nothing much really, which I didn't mind either. For a change, it was probably nice to stay and relax at the comfort of your home once in a while for your b'day. Got a call from home..sms greetings from siblings as well as family in s'pore. Greetings from a number of friends here.. Thanx guys.. (Oh yea, thnx for the present Leah, not that I expected it ;)).
A day after, Dmt, Rhmt and I hosted a raya open house. Ofcoz the effort of cooking etc started 24 hrs before. We got the necessary help from the McQs, Friz & Faisl for this occasion. [Thanx guys.. really appreciate it]. Just glad that at least it went just fine regardless of the full house situation. Overall, it did bring the raya mood..
BTG... Our part (Biomed 4) was featured in the QUT episode. How misleading was that. As a result, my family back at home didn't get to watch it. Plus they were also busy with an open house. And despite me reminding them to check every night, they were also with the problem searching for the channel... Weird~. Here, we watched thru online streaming..it was weird to listen to my own voice giving the ucapan. So awkward to watch the video. Luckily for my part the video froze so I didnt see it. Hah!.
